Description
Catkins is a cottage dating from around 1600, with extensions added in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building has a timber frame, with parts plastered and parts covered in weatherboarding. The roof is thatched, while the rear extension is made of brick, plastered, and has a tiled roof. The cottage consists of two bays and features a 19th-century axial chimney stack, an 18th-century lean-to at the northeast end, and a 20th-century extension at the rear. It is a single-storey building with an attic, and the roof is half-hipped at the southwest end and hipped at the northeast end. There are three 20th-century metal casement windows and a plain door. Inside, there is a cambered tiebeam with an arched brace and an edge-halved and bridled scarf in the rear wallplate. No other framing was visible as of January 1983.
