Description
Swifts Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has been extended in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure that is plastered and weatherboarded, topped with a thatched roof. The cottage consists of three bays and has a chimney stack with one hearth located at the northeast end of the middle bay. At the rear of the northeast end, there is a single-storey extension from the 20th century. The building is single-storey with attics and includes two late 19th-century sash windows, a plain boarded door, and one early 19th-century sash window. Additionally, there are two 20th-century casement windows in thatched dormers, one of which is plain and the other gabled. The roof is half-hipped at both ends. Inside, the timber framing is exposed, featuring primary straight bracing. The hearth has been reduced in size due to inserted brickwork from the 19th century. The northeast bay is unstoreyed and was likely originally used for storage or as a workshop.
