Description
Waysend Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has undergone later alterations. It features a timber-framed structure with plaster and a thatched roof. The cottage originally has two bays at the southwest end, dating from the 17th century, and includes a 19th-century external chimney. It has been extended to the northeast by two additional bays from the 19th century, along with a single-storey extension that also has an external chimney from the same period. The building is single-storey with attics and has five 20th-century casement windows, along with one wide dormer containing five lights, also from the 20th century. The roof is half-hipped at the southwest end, and some of the framing is exposed internally. In the southwest bay, there is a cambered tiebeam and a stop-chamfered transverse beam from the early 17th century, with unchamfered common joists and a collar-rafter roof. The next bay previously contained a chimney stack. In the 19th century, this building was made up of two or more cottages.
