Description

Old Neals is a cottage dating from the early 19th century, which has been altered and extended in the 20th century. The walls are made of clay lump up to a height of 2.5 metres, with timber framing above, both of which are plastered. The roof is thatched. The cottage has a two-room plan with a chimney stack at the northeast gable and a 20th-century extension at the rear. It is a single-storey building with attics, featuring two 20th-century casement windows and a plain door, along with two eyebrow dormers that also have 20th-century casement windows. The original roof was destroyed by a thatch fire, leading to the walls being raised and the roof being rebuilt. The building is listed for its group value.
