Description
Grays Lane Cottage is a cottage dating from the 18th century to early 19th century. It is timber framed and plastered, with a thatched roof. The building is aligned northwest to southeast and features an external stack at each end. There is a full-length extension on the northeast side with a catslide roof. To the northwest, there is a 19th-century single-storey extension with a lean-to roof made of black glazed pantiles, and to the southeast, there is a 20th-century single-storey extension with a felted lean-to roof. The cottage has one storey with attics.
On the southeast elevation, there is one 19th-century horizontally sliding sash window with four lights, two 19th-century casement windows, and one 20th-century casement window on the first floor. The entrance features a plain boarded door. The southwest elevation has one horizontally sliding sash window with four lights, while the northwest elevation has two 19th-century casement windows on the first floor. The interior includes hardwood framing, primary straight bracing, and stop-chamfered axial beams with run-out stops.
