Description

Tollgate and Wilbet Cottages are two houses that were originally one structure, dating from the 15th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. The building is timber framed and plastered, featuring a 19th-century plastered brick lean-to extension on the right side. It has red plain tiled roofs and three grey slate catslide dormers on the left range. The right gabled crosswing has a hipped rear with a gablet. There are left and right external red brick chimney stacks, and the front has a range of four windows with small paned casements, each with pentice boards above. The entrance features two vertically boarded doors, one of which has a top light, both with pentice boards over them. Inside, there are chamfered bridging joists and vertically boarded doors.
