Description

Emson and Son is a shop located on the south side of High Street in Earls Colne. It dates from the early 19th century and incorporates part of the mid-16th century frame from the adjacent building, number 84. The structure is timber framed and plastered, with a roof covered in red plain tiles. It has two storeys and features two small projecting shopfronts, a half-glazed door, and a cartway at the right end. On the first floor, there are two early 19th-century sash windows, each with 16 lights. Inside, some 16th-century stop-chamfered joists are exposed.
