Description
Pandora is a house located on the south side of High Street in Earls Colne, dating back to 1526. It is timber framed and plastered, with exposed framing on the first floor. The rear and end walls are weatherboarded, and the roof is covered with handmade red plain tiles. The building features a long-jetty range facing the street and has two storeys.
On the ground floor, there is one early 19th-century sash window with 16 lights and two 20th-century equivalents. The first floor has three early 19th-century sash windows, each with 4 + 8 lights. The entrance includes a six-panel door, with the top two panels being glazed. Notably, the bressumer of the jetty is carved with a running vine motif, featuring the De Vere molet in the center. The structure displays serpentine 'Suffolk' bracing trenched outside the studs above. Most of the frame is exposed internally, showcasing moulded beams and joists, jowled posts, cambered tiebeams, and a crownpost roof.
