Description
Cobblestones is a building that was originally part of an inn, dating back to the 15th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is timber framed, roughcast rendered, and has a roof covered with handmade red plain tiles. The structure consists of three bays aligned northeast-southwest, with a gabled front facing the street. It features a continuous jetty on the right side, which has been underbuilt, and an external stack on the left side. The building has two storeys and a cellar.
The façade includes a one-window range of late 19th century three-light casements with drip-moulds, along with a smaller casement on the first floor. There is also a half-glazed door. This building was originally the northwest parlour range of a 15th century courtyard inn known as 'The Blue Boar', which was later renamed 'The George'. The rest of the inn was demolished in 1841. This section was used as an elementary school until it was replaced by a purpose-built school in Park Lane in 1871. The cellar remains original, featuring moulded and stop-chamfered beams and joists, as well as original window openings.
