Description
Mullions Lower Houses Nook Green Cottage is a pair of cottages that were originally a house, dating from the 15th century. They are timber framed and plastered, consisting of one storey and attics, topped with a gabled peg tile roof featuring four gabled dormers on the front. All windows are casements with a single central horizontal glazing bar. Each cottage has a front door with a gabled porch that includes a finial supported by heavy curved brackets. There are gable end stacks at each end and a lean-to at the rear.
Inside, the substantial frame is exposed, showcasing wide stud spacing and curved bracing. The construction includes halved and bridled scarf joints, and the floor is partly made with stop-chamfered joists. At the northwest end, there is a floored bay with original joists, indicating its former use as an open hall house.
