Description
Number 19, along with its rear outbuilding, and numbers 21 and 23, form a group of buildings with group value. This is an interesting late 16th-century timber-framed and plastered house, which has undergone alterations in the 18th century. The house is two storeys and has attics, with a three-window front, primarily featuring 18th-century casement windows, one of which is a double-hung sash window with glazing bars.
A wing extends to the west at the rear. This wing has a double-jettied gable at its west end, featuring a moulded bressumer supported by shaped brackets. An original chimney stack is present, exhibiting two offsets and two octagonal shafts. The doorway has a wood doorcase with a moulded architrave and a small cornice. The roofs are tiled, with a moulded wood eaves cornice. An original chimney stack rises above the roof, and is characterised by three octagonal shafts on a rectangular base with a moulded capping. There are also two gabled dormers on the east front.
Inside, original features remain, including panelling and a fine 17th-century overmantel.
At the rear of Number 19 is an 18th-century timber-framed and weatherboarded outbuilding. This building has a central projecting gable above a horizontal sliding sash window. The ground storey is currently used as a garage, and the roof is tiled.
