Description
Bradford House is an 18th-century timber-framed and plastered house located at 1 Bradford Street, Bocking. It features a well-preserved 18th-century front, standing two storeys tall with attics and cellars. The façade has a seven-window range with double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars, all set in flush cased frames. An extension at the north end has a Venetian window on the first storey and a small 20th-century shop front on the ground floor. The central doorway is framed by a wood doorcase with panelled reveals, fluted pilasters, a frieze, and a pediment, and is accessed by stone steps. The front is further enhanced by original iron railings. The roof is tiled and features a moulded wood cornice with modillions. Inside, the house contains some fine panelling. Bradford House is part of a group that includes Nos 3 to 13 (odd) and Little Bradfords, along with a barn located to the southeast of Little Bradfords.
