Description
Doves Barn, located to the south side of Mowbray's Farmyard, is a barn dating from the late 16th century, with later alterations and repairs. It was converted into a dwelling in 1985. The structure is timber-framed and weatherboarded, featuring a hipped corrugated asbestos roof that replaces the original thatch. The barn has 20th-century brick foundations and flint with red brick dressings. It consists of three timber-framed bays that were extended in the 18th century to create a gable aisle. There is a double entrance facing north, supported by jowelled posts that are turned towards the opening. The roof is constructed with side purlins and is windbraced.
