Description
Butchers Hill is a cottage located on the south side of Butcher's Hill in Ickleton. It dates from the late 16th century and has undergone later alterations, with renovations completed in 1985. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with an old plain tiled roof that is half hipped to the right. A rebuilt ridge stack is present. The cottage is two storeys high and was converted into two dwellings in the late 18th century or early 19th century, with cellars that have recently been filled in. It features two replacement raised-and-fielded panelled doors and three windows, including two first-floor windows, one of which is a horizontal sliding sash. Inside, the cottage showcases exposed timber-frame and floor frames, along with an 18th-century boxed staircase.
