Description
The Red Lion Public House is a public house dating from around 1700, with alterations from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from timber framing and plaster, featuring some original patternwork in the panels. The building has a plain tiled roof, with a ridge stack located to the right of the center and a gable end stack on the right side. It stands two storeys tall, with an attic and cellar, and has a 20th-century single-storey extension on the right and a lean-to on the left gable. The entrance includes two six-raised and fielded panelled doors, along with a boarded panel that blocks an earlier doorway on the left. There are two 20-paned hung sash windows with 20th-century shutters, and four first-floor casement windows that have glazing bars. Inside, the public house features an exposed stop-chamfered ceiling beam, exposed joists, and cased beams.
