Description

TL 4246 FOWLMERE RECTORY LANE (South Side) 13/134 Maltings Cottages II House divided as row of four cottages. Late C16 with C19 additions and alterations. Timber-framed and plastered, slated roofs. Gault brick stack behind the ridge to left hand and gault brick upper courses to C17 plastered ridge stack to right hand. Two storeys; original building extended to east. Four doors include one C19 four-panelled door and one C18 six-panelled door. Five ground floor windows, casements with one horizontal sliding sash. Five first floor windows with glazing bars. Interior: Exposed timber frame with unjowelled posts, moulded ceiling beam with leaf stops and large open hearth to central room.
