Description

Maltings Cottages is a house that has been divided into a row of four cottages. It dates from the late 16th century and has 19th-century additions and alterations. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with slated roofs. There is a gault brick stack behind the ridge on the left side and gault brick upper courses on the 17th-century plastered ridge stack on the right side. The structure is two storeys high, with the original building extended to the east. It features four doors, including one 19th-century four-panelled door and one 18th-century six-panelled door. On the ground floor, there are five windows, which include casements and one horizontal sliding sash. The first floor has five windows with glazing bars. Inside, the cottage showcases an exposed timber frame with unjowelled posts, a moulded ceiling beam with leaf stops, and a large open hearth in the central room.
