Description
This is a late 17th-century cottage located on the north-east side of Orwell Road in Barrington. It is built with a timber frame, now rendered and covered with a long-straw thatched roof. A bay on the north-west side has a lower ridge and eaves line. A rendered stack rises from the ridge. The cottage follows a three-bay lobby entry plan and features one storey and an attic, with one gable dormer window. There are three 19th-century casement windows and a boarded door leading to the lobby. Inside, the north-west bay may originally have been open to the roof. The exposed timber framing consists of varied scantlings, suggesting the reuse of materials. A substantial inglenook fireplace is also present.
