Description

Owls Hoot is a late 17th-century cottage located on the west side of Haverhill Road, Castle Camps. Originally a three-bay dwelling, only two bays remain. The building is timber-framed and largely rendered, with a long-straw thatched roof. A ridge stack is present, originally square and later extended with a side stack. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with a single dormer on the east side. On the east side of the building are two 19th-century small-pane horizontal sliding sash windows with baffle entry doorways. The exposed timber framing features staggered bracing and jowled post heads. A 20th-century extension is present. Internally, the cottage contains an inglenook hearth and an original staircase off the hall.
