Description
The Old Inn is a house that was originally an inn, dating from the late 17th century. It has been extended on the southeast and southwest sides in the 19th century and renovated in the mid to late 20th century. The building is timber framed with a rendered exterior and a tiled roof, featuring a red brick ridge stack and end and side stacks. It has a straight range plan with a contemporary short wing that includes a stair turret. There is a lean-to addition at the rear southeast end and another at the front. The structure has two storeys and an attic, with two modern dormers. On the first floor, there are three casement windows with modern leaded lights. The gabled two-storey stair turret at the front has one casement window on each storey. The original doorway was located in the side of the stair turret but is now accessed through a modern porch at the southeast end. Inside, there is a stop-chamfered main beam, and scratchings can be seen on the first plaster and straw layer on the first floor.
