Description

No. 40 Church Street, which also includes No. 2 Silver Street, is a mid-18th century house that has been partially converted into shop premises. The building is constructed of red brick and features a modern tile roof with a ridge stack. It stands two storeys tall. The facade facing Church Street has two hung sash windows with glazing bars and flush wood frames on the first floor. The ground floor has one similar window set in a segmental headed arch, along with a modern shop front. At the rear, there is a brick stair turret. On the Silver Street elevation, there are two similar hung sash windows and an entrance. The building also features an early 19th century reeded doorcase with a modern pediment.
