Description

No. 18 St James's Street is an early 18th-century house that stands two storeys tall. The ground floor features a modern shop front but retains the street door and first-floor elements that are part of No. 114 High Street. The building is constructed of painted brick with rusticated stone quoins and has a gable end slate roof, complete with two dormers. There are four sash windows with glazing bars, moulded flush wood frames, and block sills. The street door is recessed and consists of six fielded panels within a moulded wood frame, set in a heavily rusticated stone surround that includes a keystone. Inside, the first-floor room has two windows facing north and features original panelling, although it has been painted over.
