Description
No. 4 Market Street, which also includes No. 2 Church Street, is an 18th-century building that stands three storeys tall. It is constructed from rubble with a slate roof and features a single chimney. The building has a stone plinth and quoins, with windows that have thin stone surrounds, sills, and flush lintels. The windows are sashed and retain all their glazing bars. Notably, there are two octagonal stone pillars that have been incorporated into a 19th-century shopfront, which includes moulded wooden reveals. The modern door is part of this shopfront. Inside, at the rear where it was formerly No. 2 Church Street, there is a corbelled fireplace with a cornice, along with heavy exposed beams and joists.
