Description
Number 6, known as the Sun Inn, is a 17th-century inn with an 18th-century block at the rear, located on the east side of Church Street. The building has two storeys, rising to three at the rear, and is constructed of rubble with a slate roof and two chimneys. The gable faces Market Street, where the first floor projects over the pavement, supported by three roughly squared stone piers with abaci. The windows feature thin stone surrounds and sills, with sash windows except on Market Street, where the surrounds are plain stone. The ground floor has a wooden architrave, and the doorcase has an eared wooden architrave, leading to a door with six raised and fielded panels. The interior is reported to have been altered.
