Description

Bridge House is a 15th-century medieval hall house located on the south side of Church Street in Buckden. It features a jettied, three-bayed cross-wing to the west. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with steeply pitched plain tile roofs. There is a large ridge stack, which is a 17th-century addition, situated in the cross-passage of the hall, along with a gable stack in the cross-wing. The exterior includes two shuttered windows with glazing bars. Inside, the house retains original two service doors with three-centred arches and exposed timber-framing. The cross-wing has an inglenook hearth, while the hall has a sealed hearth. The floors were inserted in the 17th century.
