Description
No. 61 St Mary Street, which includes No. 2 Silver Street, is an 18th-century house built in two phases, with the earlier phase being No. 2 Silver Street. The building features painted Flemish-bond brick and has a pantile mansard roof that is hipped at the left corner. It is designed in an L-shape, with No. 61 St Mary Street positioned at right angles to the Silver Street elevation. The house has two storeys and a two-window range. The windows on the upper floor have flat arches and are C20 two-light casements. On the ground floor, there is a tall recess on the right that contains a C20 glazed door flanked by windows, all featuring small panes. The corner of the building is chamfered at the ground floor and corbelled out at the first floor. No. 2 Silver Street has a three-window range with similar windows on the first floor. At the rear, there is a wide segmental arch that once served as a carriageway but is now glazed, along with a three-light casement window below a brick platband. To the right of this arch, there is a C20 glazed door. The interior has not been inspected.
