Description

No. 53 on St Mary Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early 19th century. It is built of painted English bond brick, featuring stone voussoirs and a pantile roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a two-window range. The upper floor windows have flat arches and stepped voussoirs, with 3/6-pane sashes on the second floor and 6/6-pane sashes on the first floor. The ground floor has a modern plate-glass window from the 20th century. Inside, the space has been altered, but there is an elliptical arch on eagle consoles located at the rear of the hall.
