Description
No. 37 High Street is a late 17th century L-plan house that was formerly an inn. The building features a mid 19th century facade and is timber framed, with the front wall covered in brick and rendered. The right gable end has been rebuilt in brick in the 20th century. It has a parapetted slate roof with cement tiles and a large gault brick ridge stack on the rear range. The house is two storeys high and includes a plinth and a moulded main cornice. The front has a range of three recessed hung sash windows with glazing bars, set in slightly projecting surrounds. Additionally, there is one similar window and one tripartite hung sash window, both featuring projecting key blocks on either side of the doorway, which has a rusticated surround.
