Description
Manor Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is likely timber framed and has a plaster render. The roof was raised, and an additional storey was added in the mid-19th century. The building features a low-pitched slate roof with gault brick end stacks and is designed in an L-shape. It has three storeys and three window bays, except for the second storey, which has only two windows. The windows are flush frame hung sashes with glazing bars set in open boxing. The central doorway is pedimented and flanked by narrow panelled pilasters, leading to a six-panelled door. The rear range is also timber framed, with a steeply pitched tiled roof and a gault brick end stack, and includes a stair turret at the angle. Inside, there is an early 19th-century open string staircase with two flights and two landings, featuring square section balusters, a moulded rail, turned newels, and scrolled ends to the treads.
