Description

Grandford House is a house dating from around 1820 and the mid-19th century. It is constructed of gault brick in English bond and features a steeply pitched roof made of stone slates, which has been partly repaired with Welsh slates. The gable ends are tumbled and parapetted, while the rear pitch is now covered with asbestos. The house is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys plus an attic, with three dormers. The windows are recessed four-pane hung sashes with red brick arches. The original doorway features a pedimented doorcase with pilasters, a six-panelled door, and a fanlight with radial glazing bars. There are two later canted bay windows on either side of the entrance. The property includes contemporary forecourt walls, which are now rendered and topped with ball finials on the piers. Inside, there is an original open-string staircase with square balusters and a curtail, along with a dairy and brewhouse located in the angle of the building.
