Description

No. 7 North Street is a mid-18th century house and shop located in Wisbech. The building features painted stucco and local brown brick, with slated roofs that have parapet gables and a mansard roof on the front elevation. There is an end stack to the south. The structure has two storeys with an attic and a rear outshut. The front includes two symmetrical shop windows and a central door framed by a late 19th-century architrave. To the north, there is a side passage with a panelled door and a rectangular fanlight. The building has two flush-framed hung sash windows without glazing bars, as well as a six-paned hung sash dormer window and a single-light window to the south. Originally, this building was the Elephant and Castle Inn, which served the 'lumpers' who transported corn from ships to the granary.
