Description

The wall to the garden of the Almonry and Painted Chamber is a high 14th-century structure that extends east from the Almonry to the west end of No. 2 Fore Hill. It is built of stone rubble and features a weathered stone capping. At the eastern end, there is a pointed arched gateway, along with a 20th-century arch in gothic style, which includes a war memorial. Additionally, a stone rubble wall continues south and west along the boundary between the Cathedral precinct and the gardens of the Almonry and Painted Chamber. This wall, along with the Almonry, the Sacristy Gate, and Goldsmith's Tower, forms a group with all the listed buildings on High Street, except for No. 2.
