Description
49A High Street is a former inn, originally known as the Dolphin Inn, dating from the 17th century. It has been refronted in the 18th century and altered in the 20th century. The ground floor is now finished in painted brick. The building features a small projecting wing at the north end, with a lean-to extension on its south side. It has two storeys, attics, and cellars, with a three-window range of casements. The roof is tiled, partly with old Cambridgeshire tiles. This building is part of a group of listed buildings along High Street, except for No 2, which includes The Almonry, the wall to the gardens of The Almonry, the Painted Chamber, the Sacristy Gate, and Goldsmith's Tower, all associated with The College.
