Description
No. 14 Reads Street is a house with origins in the 18th century and a roof raised in the 19th century. It is constructed of narrow gault brick in English bond and features a corrugated iron roof. The building stands two storeys tall. On the ground floor, there are two flush frame 19th-century three-light horizontal sliding sash windows with segmental arches above them, and four iron shutter clasps are still present. The doorway consists of six raised and fielded panels set within a segmental arch. At the south end, there is a smaller window for a pantry or larder. The first floor is made of larger grey gault brick, also in English bond, and has two 19th-century wooden casement windows. A change in the brickwork just above the arches of the ground floor windows indicates where the roof was raised.
