Description

Old Crowstone is a granite obelisk approximately 7 feet tall. It was originally erected on the Chalkwell foreshore in 1755 to mark the eastern limit of the City of London's jurisdiction over shipping in the Thames. In 1950, it was replaced and re-erected at its current location to the west of Prittlewell Priory.
