Description
The London Stone at Yantlet Creek is an obelisk dated 1856, standing eight metres high on a stepped, four-stage stone plinth that is vaulted above the foreshore. The obelisk is made from a single pillar of granite stone, featuring a square section and a pyramidal top on a square stone base. The inscription on the obelisk is weathered, displaying the date 1856. The plinth is inscribed with the names of mayors, including Horatio Thomas Austin and Warren Stormes Hale, and it is subject to tidal erosion.
