ISLE OF GRAIN CP HIGH STREET TQ 87 NE 4/75 West side 21.11.66 The Hogarth Inn - II

House, later the Cock Inn and the Post Office, now Public House. Late C16, altered in C20. Timber-framed with hipped tiled roof. 2 storeys. 4 horizontal sliding sash windows on first-floor and 3 C20 square bays on ground-floor. West end of brick with large stack and two brick mullioned windows, now blocked. East end with catslide extension. Interior: Floor beams chamfered and stopped throughout. As the Cock it was visited in 1732 by William Hogarth and party, and drawings survive of this visit.
