Description
The Palace Theatre is a small theatre built in 1912, featuring an ornamented exterior facade and interior that exemplify its period. The front facade, which displays the date 1912, is constructed of red brick with stucco dressings and decorative elements. It features a large central semi-circular arch that contains a stucco ornamented bulls eye window in the tympanum, topped with a balustraded parapet adorned with side scrolls. This is flanked by towers that have stucco cornices and ornamentation, along with "Dutch" gables at the parapets, each crowned with ball finials. The ground storey includes two side doorways with semi-circular arched heads and a stucco cartouche in the tympanum. Inside, the theatre boasts two curved balconies with paired side boxes that have semi-circular fronts and domed recesses, all decorated with stucco cartouches. The ceiling and proscenium arch are also panelled and feature stucco ornamentation.
