Description

This milestone, located approximately 10 metres east of the centre of Potton Market Square, dates from the 19th century and was previously situated in a different location within the square. It is made of limestone and stands under 1 metre tall. The milestone has a square shape and features a slightly worn, shallow pyramidal top. On the west side, it reads "POTTON * ST IVES 16 MILES" with a small recessed panel below. The north side indicates "BIGGLESWADE 4 MILES," while the east side shows "LONDON 48 MILES. ST IVES 16." The inscriptions are somewhat worn, especially on the east side.
