Description

The milestone located in the garden wall of number 34 on Mill Street in Gamlingay dates from the 19th century. It is made of stone, painted white with black lettering, and features a shaped top. The inscriptions read "Gamlingay", "St Ives 14 miles", and "Potton 2 miles". This milestone is part of the turnpike road that connected Bury (Huntingdonshire) to Stratton Park (Bedfordshire), which was established in 1755.
