Description

Charity Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 17th century. It features a substantial timber frame with red brick infill that is covered with colourwashed render, and it has clay tiled roofs. The main block, which is nearest to the road, stands on a substantial coursed limestone plinth and is two storeys high, consisting of three bays with a gable end facing the road.

Adjoining the main block is a one-storey and attic section, which is a later addition and forms an L-shape with the main building. The northwest elevation displays a variety of casement windows, with three on each floor; some of these have glazing bars while others are 20th-century replacements with leaded lights. There are also two blocked mullioned windows visible on the first floor. The central bay features a doorway that is now sheltered by a 20th-century hipped porch. A red brick multiple ridge stack serves the two right-hand bays, and the roof is half-hipped.

On the road elevation, the main block's gable has one two-light casement window on each floor, along with a blocked mullioned window in the attic. The left-hand block has one two-light casement window on the ground floor and two gabled dormers with casements. There is also a red brick external stack on the left-hand gable end.
