Description
Lower Roxhill Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with additions from the 19th century. It has a timber-framed structure, with some sections featuring red brick infilling and others covered in colourwashed plaster. The later additions are made of mottled red brick, and the roofs are covered with clay tiles. The house consists of a hall and a cross-wing, which originally had two cross-wings. One of the cross-wings was extended in the 19th century towards the road, and there is a matching gable block beside it. A one-storey and attic block from the 19th century is attached to the rear. The windows are varied, with most being 20th-century two and three-light casements that include glazing bars. The hall block features gabled dormers, and the front entrance has a 20th-century gabled porch on the west wall of the 19th-century paired gables. The original cross-passage entrance has been blocked by the 19th-century front gables. There is a red brick multiple ridge stack located at the junction between the hall and the cross-wing.
