Description
Gatebarn is located approximately 30 meters northwest of Faldo Farmhouse and dates from the early 19th century. It serves as a combined barn, pigeon loft, and gateway. The structure is timber-framed and clad in weatherboarding, with brick plinths at the gable ends and a clay tile roof. The southwest part of the building features a small barn with a pigeon loft above. The southeast elevation, which faces the farmhouse, has plank double doors on strap hinges, topped by two rows of pigeon holes with a landing platform in between. The northeast part of the building is formed by a gateway, with the northwest opening retaining only one leaf of plank doors, while the southeast side is completely open. This structure acts as a bridge and main entrance across the medieval water-filled moat that surrounds Faldo Farmhouse.
