Description

Faldo Farmhouse is a house that likely dates back to the 16th century, with earlier origins, and was later modified in the 19th century. It is a substantial timber-framed structure, primarily covered in colourwashed roughcast render, with some colour-washed brick cladding on the rear ground floor. The roof is made of clay tiles and the building has a T-plan layout with two storeys.

On the northwest elevation, the main block features two 2-light casements with glazing bars on each floor, with the first-floor windows slightly rising above the eaves line in gabled dormers. There is also a small earlier window with two leaded lights located below the eaves next to the cross-wing. The right-hand cross-wing has one 2-light casement on each floor, plus an additional single light on the first floor, all fitted with glazing bars. A colourwashed brick porch with a tiled gabled roof leads to the main block, which has a four-flush-panel door set in a moulded surround.

The main block has an external stack on the left-hand end, made of red brick with the top rebuilt in yellow brick, and a ridge stack that has also been rebuilt in yellow brick. The cross-wing features an external stack on the side wall, made of red brick with a rebuilt top. The cross-wing is adorned with pierced wavy-edged bargeboards. A single-storeyed outbuilding projects from the northern end of the farmhouse.

Inside, the main block's ridge stack serves a single-sided hearth made of dressed clunch. The house is situated within a rectangular medieval water-filled moat, with the main entrance located on the northwest side.
