Description

This is a row of three houses, originally with shops on the ground floor, dating from the early 19th century. The buildings are located on the north side of Potton Market Square. The front is of red brick, with a decorative chequerwork pattern made from vitrified headers on numbers 9 and 10. There is a possibility that an older structure was incorporated into the building. The roofs are slate covered.

The six-window facade has a slightly irregular arrangement. The ground floor has 20th-century shop fronts, and a square-headed carriage arch is situated between numbers 10 and 11. The first floor has five flush sash windows set within gauged brick heads. The windows in numbers 9 and 11 retain their original glazing bars, while those in number 10 do not. Number 11 features a first-floor canted oriel window on the right-hand side, with sash windows and glazing bars within reeded pilaster surrounds, topped by a cornice decorated with modillions. A rendered stack is present on number 9, and number 10 has a red brick ridge stack. Numbers 9 and 10 are included in the listing due to their group value within the Market Square.
