Description

The Den is a 17th-century house located in Ickwell Green, Northill. It features timber framed construction that is partly exposed, with a colourwashed roughcast render and a thatched roof. The house has a two-room plan and consists of one storey with attics. The main structure is built in a box frame style with a gabled roof, but it also includes a hipped bay at the eastern end that has a truncated cruck truss. The property has 20th-century casement windows throughout, all with glazing bars, and a dormer window on the northern elevation. There are also 20th-century doors on the northern and southern elevations, and a rebuilt double ridge stack that serves back-to-back hearths.
