Description
No. 1 Ickwell Green is a house that was originally a pair of cottages, dating from the 18th century. It features timber framed construction with colourwashed roughcast render on the exterior and a thatched roof. The building has a three-room plan and is one storey high with attics.
On the ground floor, there are three 2-light casements with glazing bars. The attic includes three eyebrow dormers, one of which has a 2-light casement with glazing bars, while the other two have round-headed casements with pointed-arched glazing bars and leaded lights. There is a thatched double porch between the two left-hand bays, featuring a pair of round-headed entrances.
The left-hand gable end has a red brick external stack, and there is also a red brick ridge stack. The eastern gable end has two single-light windows on the ground floor and an attic with a blocked round-headed window similar to those on the front. Additionally, there is a substantial 20th-century addition to the rear that is designed in a similar style.
