Description

No. 7 Bedford Street is an earlier 18th-century building that has early 19th-century alterations and encases an earlier, likely 17th-century structure. It is constructed of red brick featuring some chequerwork patterning with flared headers. The outer angles have applied cement render quoins. The roof on the right-hand part is covered with clay tiles, while the left-hand part has a slate roof.

The left-hand bay is three storeys high and consists of a single bay. It features a two-storeyed bow window that contains a tripartite sash with glazing bars on each floor. The first floor has a bowed balcony supported by brackets and cast iron columns, adorned with ornamental cast iron railing. There is a dentil cornice at the second floor level. Above this, the top floor has a deep parapet with a small tripartite window in a central recessed panel, flanked by small recessed panels in the outer bays.

The right-hand bay is two storeys with attics. Both the ground and first floors have tripartite sashes with glazing bars set in flush cases under cambered heads. The first floor also includes a blind window with a cambered head. The attic features a box dormer with a two-light casement. The entrance has a six-panel door, with the top pair being glazed. A timber porch with paired panelled pilasters on a high base supports a dentilled cornice and a leaded roof. There is a timber modillion cornice at the eaves and a variety of brick chimney stacks.
