Description

La Cantina Restaurant occupies two buildings dating to the early 18th and 19th centuries, incorporating an earlier structure. Number 5 is constructed of red brick with some flared headers and a colourwashed facade. Number 6 appears to contain some timber framing. Number 5 has a slate roof, while Number 6 has a clay tile roof.

Number 5 is a three-storey, single-bay building topped with a pedimented parapet containing a segmental arched recess. It has a late 19th-century shop front on the ground floor, featuring a 20th-century glazed door on the left. The first and second floors each contain tripartite sashes with glazing bars and flat heads.

Number 6 is two bays wide, with two storeys and attic space. It features a late 19th-century shop front on the right and a lower carriage arch on the left, both framed by panelled pilasters. The first floor has a single sash, a blind window, and a tripartite sash, all set within segmental arches. All the sashes have glazing bars and wide wooden cases that are nearly flush with the wall. A box dormer in the attic contains a two-light casement with glazing bars. A timber modillion cornice runs along the eaves. A variety of brick chimney stacks are visible.
