Description

SP 9632-9732 WOBURN WOBURN PARK 10/175 Coade stone urn approximately 10 metres S of E end of Sculpture Gallery GV II Urn. Probably early C19. Coade stone urn on limestone plinth, base and stem of urn in stone, apparently a later replacement. Approximately 2.5 metres high in total. Plinth has moulded base and cap. Urn has fluted base and moulded flange to stem. Base of bowl ornamented with grotesque heads and acanthus leaves. Main part of bowl filled by scene of classical figures, above which is frieze of vine with grapes. Out-turned rim has egg and dart moulding to lip.
