Description

SP 9632-9732 WOBURN WOBURN PARK 10/157 Piers, urns and railings along S and W sides of private garden to S of Woburn Abbey GV II Piers, urns and railings. Probably early C19. Red brick, limestone and cast iron. 12 piers surmounted by urns with cast iron railings between, running along W and S sides of private garden. W part approximately 65 metres long, S part approximately 50 metres long. S part is on edge of ha-ha, and has central curved section projecting southwards. Rectangular piers with moulded base and caps. Small bulbous urns which have simply moulded bases, gadrooned out-turned lips and ball-friezes from which are suspended swags and drops. Railings consist of trelliswork panels with ornamental borders. Whole wall stands on stone-coped brick plinth.
